A garden living room you can use all year

The garden room that earns its keep in January, not just the one that photographs well in July — insulated, four-season, a real room.

A day in the room

The room you use in January, not the one that photographs well in July

A gazebo proves the idea and then lets you down — cold, damp and exposed for two-thirds of the year, its furniture hauled in and out with the weather. An insulated garden room keeps the idea and fixes the execution: warm, dry, lockable and lit.

The spec that makes it usable

Built for every season, not just the sunny ones

Permanent-building materials. No adjectives — just the spec.

01 — INSULATION

80 mm

Warm and dry through the coldest months

80 mm of rock-wool insulation, 50 mm high-density sandwich-panel walls, an EPDM roof and a double false ceiling, so the room stays warm and dry through the coldest months.

02 — GLAZED & SECURE

Glazed

A bright, lockable room

Double safety-tempered glazing and a lockable door make it a bright, secure room — not an open frame you close for winter.

03 — POWERED & LIT

Warm LED

Comfortable day and night

A full electrical pre-install, dimmable warm LED and cross-ventilation, so the room is comfortable on a winter evening and a summer afternoon alike.

Reversible, not permanent

On screw piles, not a slab

No excavation, no concrete, no civil works — the Base is set on reversible screw piles in half a day, two weeks before delivery. Against months of building for an extension, it can be relocated or removed with no lasting mark on the garden.

Two NOOKs for living. One is the living room.

For a larger household, the Doble adds guest overflow; the living room is still the Base.

Questions About Garden Living Rooms

Is a garden living room just an expensive gazebo?

No. A gazebo is an open or lightly clad structure that is genuinely usable only in warm, dry weather. A NOOK garden living room is an insulated, glazed, lockable building — 80 mm insulation, Energy A, double safety-tempered glazing — that stays warm, dry and secure through the winter. It is the year-round room a gazebo can never be.

Can you use a garden room in winter?

Yes. With 80 mm of rock-wool insulation, an EPDM roof and double false ceiling, double safety-tempered glazing, cross-ventilation and dimmable warm LED, the Base holds a comfortable temperature every month. Certified Energy A, it is a room you use in January, not just one that photographs well in July.

Is a garden living room secure?

It is a proper, lockable, glazed room rather than an open frame, so furniture, a television and belongings can be left in it and closed up — secure in a way an open gazebo structure simply is not. We confirm the door and glazing details for your site during the consultation.

Do I need planning permission for a garden living room?

In many areas a garden building of this size sits within permitted development, and because a NOOK rests on reversible screw piles rather than a concrete slab it is often treated differently from a permanent extension. Rules vary by council, so we provide the full technical documentation and you confirm the position with your local authority. Treat this as guidance, not legal advice.

Is a garden room worth it compared with an extension?

A garden room adds usable, year-round living space in 8 to 12 weeks with a day's install and no civil works, where an extension means months of building. Because a NOOK is reversible and relocatable, it does not commit your plot the way a fixed extension does. Local values vary, so we keep to that framing rather than quoting an uplift we cannot source.
