Frequently asked questions
How long does installing a garden room really take?
The physical installation on your property takes under 24 hours: a light foundation (half a day, a week before delivery) and positioning the module (30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the model and extras). The total lead time from order is 3–4 months — covering the factory build across our European production bases, transport and unloading. NOOK is radically faster than traditional construction.
Do I need planning permission for a garden room?
It depends on local rules, which vary by area. In the UK, many garden rooms under certain size and height limits fall under permitted development — though adding a bathroom, sleeping use, or the siting can change that. Permits are the customer’s responsibility, but once you reserve, NOOK provides a full technical dossier (drawings, specifications, structural notes) to make your application straightforward. For the NOOK Base we also provide a reversibility certificate.
Is a garden room comfortable in winter?
Yes — if it’s built properly. NOOK carries an A energy rating with the same build quality as a new home. This isn’t a basic timber shed that “insulates a bit”; it’s a space designed to stay comfortable through large outdoor temperature swings. Optional: air conditioning with a heat pump for heating and cooling.
What exactly does “turnkey” include?
Everything needed for your NOOK to be ready to use:
- Foundation on screw piles or supports, including a ground survey and levelling
- Transport of the module from the factory
- Crane and professional installation crew
- The complete module in premium specification
- Installation of every extra you choose
- Furniture depending on the product
- A quality check with a signed checklist
Not included: permit applications (we provide the documentation) and the final electrical connection to your main consumer unit.
Is the reservation deposit refundable?
Yes — 100% refundable for 7 days after you reserve. The process:
- You reserve with your deposit (the amount depends on the model)
- You send us photos of your garden
- We validate feasibility in 2–4 days
- You have 7 days to decide — if you don’t continue, you get a full refund
If we proceed, the deposit is deducted from the final price. No surprises.
